Tongwang Dynamics: Lawyer Huang Yuhua Invited to Lecture at the Lao Senior Procuratorate Training Course

On September 22, 2023, Lawyer Huang Yuhua, Director of the Expert Advisory Committee of Guangxi Tongwang Law Firm, was invited to Guangxi University to lecture on "Criminal Defense System with Chinese Characteristics" for the students of the "Senior Prosecutors Training Course of the Lao People's Democratic Republic."
The participants in this training course are mainly senior prosecutors from Vientiane, Salavan Province, Bolikhamxay Province, Attapeu Province and other regions of Laos who are engaged in criminal and civil prosecution.
Lawyer Huang Yuhua introduced the establishment and development history of the criminal defense system with Chinese characteristics to the prosecutors of Laos through a combination of theory and practice, and explained in detail the relevant contents of the Chinese lawyer defense system, such as pre-trial defense and court defense, substantive defense and procedural defense, and conviction defense and sentencing defense. Lawyer Huang said that the criminal defense system with Chinese characteristics has been accompanied by China's 40 years of reform and opening up, as well as the construction of the rule of law in China in the new era and the development of China's criminal procedure system. The continuous development and improvement of the socialist criminal defense system with Chinese characteristics from scratch, from weak to strong, fully demonstrates the development of the criminal defense system with Chinese characteristics in the field of human rights protection, and the increasingly important role it plays in promoting judicial justice and the construction of the rule of law in China.
The Lao prosecutors said that Lawyer Huang Yuhua's lectures have benefited them a lot, and they have a deeper understanding of the development history of China's criminal defense system and China's criminal procedure legal system. They deeply feel that Laos and China are both socialist countries and belong to the continental law system, and have many similar or common legal sources and legal systems. Therefore, the successful experience in the development of China's criminal procedure system and lawyer defense system is worth learning from and drawing on in Laos. In the future, they will apply the gains and achievements of this study to their work, so as to promote the development of Laos' procuratorial work and make positive contributions to promoting judicial exchanges between China and Laos.
