From April 28th to May 6th, the 2022 Youth Lawyer Debate Competition of Tongwang was successfully held in various offices. The debate competition was organized and led by the Tongwang Debate Competition Organizing Committee, with an office under the committee responsible for the specific implementation of the competition by the Youth Committee of the firm.

Mobilization Meeting

From April 25th to 26th, Tongwang Nanning General Office, Liuzhou Branch, Qinzhou Branch, and Wuzhou Branch held mobilization meetings for the debate competition in various locations. The pre-competition mobilization meeting aimed to help participating lawyers better understand the relevant competition rules and precautions.

Event Information

On the evening of April 28th, the 2022 Youth Lawyer Debate Competition of Nanning General Office kicked off in Tongwang Law Lecture Hall. The competition adopted a team competition format, with two teams in each group, acting as the plaintiff and defendant respectively. Each team consisted of three members and a senior lawyer as a coach. The competition system was divided into three stages: statement of opinions by the plaintiff and defendant, free debate, and concluding remarks. The judges strictly followed the scoring rules to score the performance of each participating member in the competition.

Leadership Speech

Wang Qianfeng, Executive Director of the firm, attended the debate competition and delivered a speech. Director Wang Qianfeng emphasized to the participating young lawyers the importance of holding this youth lawyer debate competition. He pointed out that promoting the organic integration of "learning, practice, training, evaluation, and competition" in the form of case competitions aims to select and cultivate a group of outstanding young lawyers through the competition to provide talent guarantee for the sustainable development of Tongwang. He urged the young lawyers to attach great importance to this competition, strengthen their professional qualities, improve their courtroom advocacy skills, demonstrate the excellent demeanor of Tongwang's young lawyers, and live up to their youth and the times.

Judges Introduction

The judges attending this debate competition included Huang Yuhua, Director of the Expert Advisory Committee of the firm, Chen Zhen, Deputy Director of the Administrative Management Committee, and Cai Juan, Deputy Director of the Criminal Department. The debate competition also specially invited Wang Junlong, a lawyer who won the "Best Demeanor Award in the Southern Division of the National Public Prosecutor Debate Competition" awarded by the Political Department and Public Prosecution Department of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and Huang Luyi, a lawyer who won the "Best Demeanor Award in the First Guangxi Prosecutor and Lawyer Debate Competition" as special guest judges. The judges strictly followed the debating ability, physical performance, and rule execution of each participating member in the debate competition to conduct a comprehensive assessment and derive scores.

Competition Scene

Xu Xiaoye, Deputy Director of the Youth Committee, served as the host of this debate competition. The five debate teams took the stage in turn after drawing lots to determine the competition order. During the competition, the prosecution and defense closely focused on their respective arguments and launched fierce debates. They made statements from the levels of fact determination, legal definition, and value evaluation. Facing the other side's rebuttal, they had clear ideas, appropriate strategies, and demonstrated their flexible thinking and rigorous logic to the audience with confident and passionate expressions.

Judges Comments

At the end of the competition, the judges summarized and commented on the debate competition. Lawyer Huang Luyi shared her experience in participating in the debate competition and shared relevant experiences with the participating lawyers in terms of debating skills. Lawyer Wang Junlong introduced to everyone the methods of breaking the topic, and he suggested that lawyers should pay attention to improving the depth of argumentation during the debate. Huang Yuhua, Director of the Expert Advisory Committee, while affirming the good performance of the young lawyers in this competition, also pointed out the existing problems and shortcomings, and put forward higher expectations for the young lawyers of the firm.
