Hello, Tongwang! I am fortunate to be with you at your 25th birthday!
In the past 25 years, some people have come and some have left. What remains unchanged is the busyness, and what has changed are the busy people. Anyone who knows the legal profession knows that lawyers are a very mobile profession. After many law firms become bigger and stronger, some lawyers inevitably leave their original law firms for various reasons, or switch to other law firms, or independently open a new law firm. Therefore, in the legal profession, there are not many individual law firms with more than 100 people, and more are small and medium-sized firms with a dozen or twenty people, or even mini firms with only a few people.
In my fifteen years of practice, many friends around me have advised me to start my own firm, so that I can be the director and have the final say on everything. Whenever I hear these words, I always laugh it off. The main reasons for this are as follows:
First, I am a lazy person. Lazy friends know that the biggest characteristic of lazy people is that they don't want to bother. I am a lazy person, and it really kills me to go through various transfer procedures and office procedures. Starting a new office is not only cumbersome, but also requires a lot of energy and time to develop and grow it. Why not pick up the ready-made bargains and bother so hard? This is really not in line with the temperament of a lazy person like me.
Second, Tongwang is also okay. Tongwang has been established for 25 years. From an unknown small firm to a well-known firm in the industry, it has experienced a lot of ups and downs. There are good things and bad things.
Tongwang has many bad things.
For example, the location of the office is not a prime location. Tongwang's office building was purchased in 2004, when the extension of Dongge Road was still a farmland. Due to the increase in personnel and business volume, in order to further improve the service capacity of the firm, the partners at that time invested in the purchase of nearly 1,000 square meters of office buildings. From 2004 to now, Tongwang Law Firm has not developed to the ASEAN Business District or the Wuxiang New District, and has not pursued a high-end office environment. Based on the idea of doing things in a down-to-earth manner, it has increased the purchase of one floor of office buildings and leased one floor of office buildings in the original office building. Therefore, among the better law firms in Guangxi, Tongwang Law Firm's office environment is not a high-end environment.
For example, there are too few varieties of food in the cafeteria. Tongwang Law Firm has been running an employee cafeteria since 2005. At first, a small single room was rented in the nearby farmer's resettlement house, and an aunt was hired to cook lunch every day. At noon, a group of people walked a large circle in a mighty manner, sneaking into the urban village like devils entering the village to eat. Later, when the conditions were better and there were more and more people, they rented a four-bedroom apartment nearby, which was rented for ten years, to be used as an employee cafeteria. Despite this, the variety of food in the cafeteria has not increased with the increase in the number of people, but has become less and less. At first, it was a table of dishes that everyone ate around, but now it is a buffet with three or four dishes. The weekly dishes are the same as last week, week after week. Although the aunt who cooks changes the variety of desserts, there are too few dishes, which still makes people love and hate.

For example, the leader's smile is not approachable enough. At first, the leader would not smile. After being told by us, he also started to smile, but the rigor and seriousness revealed from his bones made his smile full of laws and regulations, without any approachable, amiable, or kind meaning, which made the young people in the office afraid of him.
From a small person to a large country, there are unsatisfactory aspects, and there are also very good aspects. As long as the direction of progress is correct, it is normal to have a small cold. Tongwang is also like this, and he still has many things that can be done well.
For example, I also won some decent awards. Since participating in the first National Excellent Law Firm selection in 2005, Tongwang Law Firm has won several National Excellent Law Firm and Guangxi Excellent Law Firm honors with its decent results; from 2011 to now, Tongwang Law Firm has won the title of "Top 10 Chinese Construction Law Firms Most Worth Recommending in China" jointly selected by China Construction Times and American Engineering News Record with its performance in the field of engineering legal services. Winning such honors in a row makes people feel a little fluttery. The firm has added several independent air conditioners to the office to avoid the embarrassment of not having central air conditioning when receiving customers on summer weekends.
For example, the total office area in Guangxi is also decent. With purchases and rentals, Tongwang Law Firm currently has an office area of 3,000 square meters in Nanning, 1,000 square meters in Liuzhou, and more than 600 square meters in Qinzhou and Wuzhou respectively. In terms of total area, Tongwang Law Firm is also decent among the several better law firms in the province.
For example, several branch offices have also been set up in Guangxi Province, and Tongwang's partners can easily get food from the canteens in various places when traveling on business in the province. Since 2004, Tongwang Law Firm has established branches in Liuzhou, Qinzhou, and Wuzhou, radiating Guibei, Guinan, and Guidong. Each branch office has also set up an employee cafeteria, and partners can also go to the cafeteria for meals when traveling on business locally. Although the food may not be delicious, it is free. Isn't free stuff good?
It is precisely for the above reasons that, in my opinion, it is better to work hard to make Tongwang better than to start a new law firm by myself. After all, one person's efforts are always better than a group of people's efforts.
I think that in the next 25 years, Tongwang Law Firm will still have many bad things and many decent things. But no matter what, I hope that in the next 25 years, I will still be a member of Tongwang.
