Guangxi Tongwang Law Firm is a Guangxi local legislation research, evaluation, and consulting service base approved by the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Autonomous Region People's Congress. Recently, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress reviewed the "Draft Amendment (XI) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China." To comprehensively collect opinions and suggestions from all parties and better propose revisions to be fed back to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, on the evening of July 23, 2020, the Criminal Department of Guangxi Tongwang Law Firm held a seminar on the revision opinions of the "Draft Amendment (XI) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China." Dozens of criminal professional lawyers from the Criminal Department participated in this seminar.
At the meeting, Chen Zhen, Deputy Director of the Criminal Department, first introduced the overall ideas and main content of the "Draft Amendment (XI) to the Criminal Law." Then, Huang Wenxin, Deputy Director of Tongwang Law Firm, and Yu Kun, He Caibin, Tan Ganrong, and Huang Guanran of the Criminal Department expressed their opinions on the draft provisions from various aspects such as crimes of safe production, crimes of food and drug, crimes of disrupting financial order, and crimes of polluting the environment, and put forward corresponding revisions.
Finally, Huang Yuhua, Executive Deputy Director of Tongwang Law Firm, summarized the seminar. He said that the "Draft Amendment" is the eleventh amendment to my country's current "Criminal Law" since 1997, in order to implement the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and adapt to changes in the domestic and international situation and the new situations and struggles currently facing. The new regulations in the "Draft Amendment" involve many fields, and the content of these new regulations are new issues that have attracted widespread attention in society in recent years, which are closely related to legal work, especially our lawyers' work. He asked everyone to further improve their professional level through this study and research on the "Draft Amendment" and better safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the parties in accordance with the law.
After the meeting, the Criminal Department of Tongwang Law Firm will sort out the revision opinions on the "Draft Amendment (XI) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China" and form a draft revision opinion, which will be submitted to the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the Autonomous Region People's Congress.
